Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience. It is so important to take the time to look at the many different patterns and colors in your home on your stairs. Stairs are very important for many reasons. They are usually in the entrance foyer, so it can be very welcoming if done right. It sets the tone for the rest of the house. A runner provides visual direction to the upstairs.
It is also important to have the right width. Instead of going by a generic "rule of thumb", it is so much better to actually look at the stairs and see what simply "feels right". And, of course, it is vital to get the color right. I always say, there is no such thing as a true neutral. There are many so-called neutrals that don't harmonize and are simply acceptable at best.
Also important to use 100% continuous filament nylon, especially on the stairs. It withstands crushing better than any other fabric. And runners are important on the steps to provide friction, especially in the winter when socks are worn. The stairs are dangerously slippery without carpet.
And you are right. I do love my work, and the reward is hearing you say, "...it looks fantastic!" That's what its all about!
Blessings to you,
Sue
